Every year many children have accidents at the park, some resulting in hospitalisation.
After chatting with other grandparents at the park, it was obvious to me that most of us could not physically do what we used to, and that keeping children safe had become a major concern.
These comments are just some that inspired me to write this book.
"I'm too old for this caper!"
"I'm struggling to get up off this seat, let alone run around the playground!"
"I'm totally exhausted, and I've only been here 10 minutes!"
"Please be careful ! You are only half mine."
"Slow down, please! Remember, I can’t keep up with you ."
An important aim of this book is to help children understand that their grandparents may be physically unable to help if dangerous situations occur in the playground.
The book is intended for grandparents, parents, teachers and carers to read to young children to foster cooperation at the park, with an emphasis on safety.
Essential safety rules, accompanied by an engaging lollipop graphic, are included for discussion throughout the story.
